Meet Diane
Diane M. Hotten-Somers is a published author, educator, and scholar of gender, culture, and the media. With a focus on centering voices and stories that have lived on the margins of society, Diane has published scholarship and lectured on the intersection of gender, culture, and the media, exposing how past and contemporary American women and female popular artists reclaim women’s agency and power through their work and artistry.
As a writing instructor with over 25 years of experience, Diane translates her scholarly interests into her teaching by empowering her students to find their own unique, powerful voices and stories through self-reflection and development of their writer’s craft. Together, her work as a writer and consultant aims to bring forth stories and writers that speak currently unheard, important truths.
